Who We Are

We have both tried to fight the seasons!

In a warm apartment in the far east, Sophie built a fireplace from cardboard boxes and tried to give her children a feeling of an English Christmas.

Faced with a bitterly cold winter in England, Dr Ellie turned up the heating whenever the sun was shining into the living room to pretend it was a hot summer whilst watching cricket!

But there is no use in fighting the seasons.

Instead, long before we met, Sophie and Dr Ellie learned that leaning into the Seasons with creativity and playfulness is fuel! It steadies you, lifts you, and brings back the small sparks that make life feel brighter.

Now, both Sophie and Dr Ellie live in the English countryside, juggling teens and adult children, ageing parents, grief, and the complexities that come with having done international moves and getting older ourselves.

We’ve navigated our share of change and challenge, and we’ve seen how creativity and play can carry all of us through.

We both have lived in different parts of the world, so we know how disorientating seasonal shifts can feel. Instead of retreating indoors (as we would like to!), we have learnt that embracing the seasons is a far better way to stay grounded and engaged with life.

That is why at Playful Seasons, we understand how easily a change in seasons, real or metaphorical, can pull you off-centre. Our courses run with the northern hemisphere seasons. We blend art, science, and wellbeing practices to help you pause, reconnect, and feel more like yourself again.
